Positive Relationships… a key to Longevity

September 5, 2009 | By: deaneparkes

Robin Sharma in his book ‘The Greatness Guide’ gives simple ways to build superb relationships. There really are 2 main focuses for a business – # 1 – build strong long lasting relationships with your customers/fellow workers and # 2 – create value through the products and services you offer. Relationships and Value!!!

Here are a few relationship tips from Robin Sharma [I strongly suggest this book].

  1. Be the most positive person you know.
  2. Be candid and speak truthfully.
  3. Be on time.
  4. Say please and thank you. [‘Yes Mom’]
  5. Under promise and over deliver.
  6. Leave people better than you found them.
  7. Be friendly and caring.
  8. Be a world-class listener.
  9. Become passionately interested in other people.
  10. Smile a lot.

He tells a story of a top management consultant who was paid a great sum of money to assist a large corporation. After he analyzed the corporation he walked into his presentation and looked at the group intensely. He then took out a marker and wrote on the white board “Treat people with respect.”  He smiled at the executives and left.

In business we deal with many people – customers, fellow staff, couriers, vendors, sales reps, accountants, and many more. We should always do our best to treat everyone with respect.

Relationships are vital to the future of any business; take the time to become a master of building them.

Also having positive relationships is a proven longevity formula.
